FAQ
Where can I come to see the dogs?
Shelter Survivors does not have a facility.
All of our dogs are in foster homes until they are
adopted. Our dogs can be seen at our regular
adoption events. This is a great opportunity to
meet all of the dogs we have available and talk to the
foster families. You can get the dates, times and
locations on our Events Page.
Why do you charge a fee to adopt a dog?
100 % of our adoption fees go to medically
treat, provide shelter and feed all of dogs that we
rescue from local shelters. Many of them require
extensive and expensive veterinary care. Many
times the adoption fee does not even cover all the costs
Shelter Survivors has incurred.
I need to find a new home for my dog, can you
help?
We do not take in surrender dogs, but we can
assist owners in finding a new home for their dog.
The reason we do not take surrenders in is simple, for
every dog we take in from a home, one gets euthanized at
the shelter. If you are willing to keep the dog in
your home while we look for a new home for him/her we
will gladly assist you. You are welcome to bring your
dog to our adoption events, but proof of spay/neuter and
vaccinations will be required.
What dogs do you have for adoption?
To view the dogs that are currently in our
foster homes, please visit
www.sheltersurvivors.com and click on the Our Dogs
button. This link gives you pictures, breed
information, an assessment of the dog's personality
traits and our recommendations on the type of home we
feel would fit them best.
How do I get a dog?
If you see a dog that looks appropriate for
your home, we encourage you to fill out an application.
If you have specific questions about the dog, please
e-mail us at
sheltersurvivors@live.com. It is easier for us
to answer you if we have your application on file and we
will make every effort to answer all your questions.
I didn't get the dog I sent in an application
for, what do I do now?
Many times our dogs receive multiple
applications and we have to make difficult decisions
regarding placement. It is our goal to match each
dog with the appropriate family. This benefits
both the dog AND the adoptive family. Since all of
our dogs are in foster care we know them well and can
therefore match them up with the right home. If you do
not get the dog you originally applied for we will
gladly hold on to your application and notify you when
your perfect companion becomes a Shelter Survivor!
Can I volunteer with Shelter Survivors?
We are an all volunteer rescue and are always in
need of volunteers. To become a Shelter Survivor
Volunteer, download the volunteer application and email
it to
sheltersurvivors@live.com. |
